Garage Door Sensor Repair in Sanibel for Reversing Doors
Dirty, bumped or nested-in sensors put right and tested, so the door will close when asked yet still turn back for people, pets and bikes.
Describe the reversing door — (239) 392-5325What Garage Door Sensor Repair Involves
A pair of small units low on either side of the opening passes an unseen signal between them. If something breaks it, the door reverses. They are the main safety feature of a modern opener and are easily knocked, covered in dust or nested in.
At a shared home the usual culprits are stacked luggage and beach gear, a bumped bracket, a sunlit lens or a spider's web after months of closure. We clean, realign and test the sensors, replace damaged wiring or units, and check that the door still reverses for a real obstacle.
Signs It Is Time to Arrange a Visit
The door starts down then goes back up
A blocked or misaligned sensor is the usual reason. Lights on the units can show whether they are lined up.
The door will not close at all
The opener may be refusing to move because one sensor is dark, covered or disconnected.
Gear is stacked by the door
Boards, bikes and bags near the sensors can break the signal. Guests rarely realize this.
A sensor looks loose or skewed
A bumped bracket or loose wire can shift the aim slightly, which is enough to stop the door closing.
What Happens on the Visit
- 1
Sensors and wiring inspected
We check each unit, its bracket, indicator light and wire run, since damage is often hidden behind the garage wall or under a staple.
- 2
Cleaned, aligned and tested
Lenses are cleaned, units are re-aimed and the signal is confirmed on both sides, then the door is cycled several times.
- 3
Reversal checked with an obstacle
We place a test object under the door to confirm that it reverses, then explain what was wrong and how to avoid it.
Questions From Owners Who Are Away
- Can I bypass the sensors?
- No. They are a safety feature and bypassing them removes protection for children, pets and vehicles. A proper repair is quick and keeps the door safe to use. Done properly it takes little time, and a correct repair keeps the door safe for everybody who uses it.
- Why would sensors fail while nobody is home?
- Dust, insects, humidity and sunlight can interfere with them over time. A power cut or a loose wire may also leave them dark. After months of closure these small problems build up, which is why we check them on every pre-arrival visit.
- Can the sensors be moved?
- They can be adjusted, but they must stay low and aimed across the opening. We tell you what height and position are appropriate for the door. Moving them higher or aiming them differently can leave gaps, so we set them properly and test the result.
